Let's Hear it for the boys! The duties of a best man and groomsmen on wedding day

When it comes to planning a wedding, the role of the best man and groomsmen is often overlooked. These trusted friends and family members play a crucial role in the big day and are responsible for a variety of important duties. In this blog post, we'll go over some of the key responsibilities of the best man and groomsmen at a wedding, and explain how they can help to make the day a success. At Historic Venue 1902 we believe the guys day should be just as awesome as the Bride's and we have incredible spaces to make sure their day is one to remember! Planning a wedding can be a pretty big task, and it can be easy to overlook some of the important roles that your friends and family members will play on your big day. The best man and groomsmen are some of the most important people to have by your side, but what exactly do they do? Here's a quick guide to help you understand their roles and how they can help make your wedding day a success.

The Best Man

The best man is the groom's right-hand man and is often his closest friend or brother. The best man's main duty is to support the groom in the lead-up to the wedding, as well as on the big day itself. This includes:

  • Offering advice and moral support during the wedding planning process

  • Helping the groom choose and buy his wedding outfit

  • Assisting with wedding vendor appointments

  • Holding onto important wedding-day items, such as the rings and marriage license

  • Offering a toast to the happy couple during the reception

  • Helping to organize the groom's bachelor party

He may also be asked to make announcements or introduce you and your spouse at the reception. Basically, he's your go-to guy for anything you need help with.

The Groomsmen

While the best man has a more central role, your groomsmen also play an important part. They'll help out with things like:

  • Assisting the best man with wedding planning tasks

  • Helping you get ready on the wedding day

  • Standing with you at the altar during the ceremony

  • Participating in any pre-wedding events, like the bachelor party

  • Decorating the reception venue if needed

Groomsmen should also be willing to pitch in and help out with anything else that comes up.

Also, groomsmen should match the attire of the groom, that would be traditional.

Having your best man and groomsmen by your side will make sure everything runs smoothly and that everyone has a good time. They're there to help you, so don't be afraid to ask them for anything you need. And remember, your wedding day is about celebrating your love and commitment to your partner, and having your closest friends and family there to share in the experience is what will make it truly special.
